Dr. Rebecca Smith-Bindman

Dr. Rebecca Smith-Bindman has published over 160 peer reviewed publications, cited 21,700 times, with many articles focused on approaches to optimize the radiation doses used for CT across physicians and hospitals. Dr. Smith-Bindman has testified before the US Congress, Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health in 2010 (Medical Radiation: An overview of the Issues and again in 2012 (The Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, The Care Bill.) The focus on her testimony was on the need to enact standards for CT scanning to reduce the harms associated with excessive radiation doses. In 2019, Dr. Smith-Bindman was awarded a $5M cooperative agreement with CMS to develop a CT quality measure to reduce excessive radiation dose.
