Description:
Building upon the CLIMB theme, this presentation introduces leadership and communication principles & practices that are both solid (grounded in nature and proven research) and disruptive, even controversial (some of this work improves upon many current and popular practices).
Using a mountain climbing metaphor, this presentation is divided into 3 camps traditionally used as climbers make progress towards the summit. A base camp is crucial for mountaineers as it serves as a central hub at the base of a mountain, providing a place for mental preparation, a place to acclimatize to altitude and attitude, and a place to organize and prepare for further work. Our Base Camp, Awareness, focuses on 8 foundation principles. The second camp, Acceptance, focuses on specific aspects of leadership science and research that have been shifting over the last 20 – 30 years on perception and the power of language. Our last camp, Action, provides descriptions of several immediate actions leaders can take to begin harvesting the benefits of this presentation.
