Description: 

This session will cover how to conduct a PX audit, focusing on human factors that impact staff wellness, performance, and patient experience. Many imaging suites are designed with limited space, leading to patient distress and technologist fatigue. The session will explore how visual connections to open spaces, natural daylight, and biophilic elements—like Prospect & Refuge—enhance well-being and performance.

Research on architectural illusions of nature, such as landscape views and sky imagery, will be discussed for their ability to create perceived openness, reduce claustrophobia, and improve mood. These illusions also benefit imaging staff by mitigating stress from working in confined environments. Evidence links improved workspaces with higher HCAHPS scores, staff satisfaction, and patient outcomes.

The session will also touch on retrofit solutions, such as tunable lighting and nature-inspired illusions, to enhance care environments, even in constrained spaces, improving both staff and patient experiences.
