Addressing Failed Follow-ups: From Insights to Action

Recorded On: 05/19/2021

Juan Jimenez, MD, Associate Medical Director of Radiology, Carle Foundation Hospital

Studies have shown that approximately 10% of radiology reports contain a recommendation for patient follow-up.  Yet on average, only 50% of these follow-ups ever get completed. Understanding the scope of this issue and impact on patient care is becoming increasingly top of mind for many radiology departments and the care teams they serve. This webinar will take an in-depth look at the journey the radiology team at Carle Health System in Illinois has taken to focus on this issue. The session will explore the use of NLP-powered analytics to provide insight into processes and outcomes, and the programs Carle has put into place to systematically identify, track and proactively manage follow-ups to help reduce the risk of patients “falling through the cracks.”

You will learn:
• Examine the role of analytics in providing insight into the extent of failed radiology follow-ups.
• Provide an overview of how Carle Health System is proactively addressing the issue of failed follow-ups.
• Discuss the elements of a successful follow-up management program, including best practices and lessons learned.
